Living it up in Old Orcutt at Ca’ Del Grevino
By Donna Polizzi
I’ll confess to something, I’m sort of a hopeless romantic. While that might typically mean I enjoy holding hands and long slow walks on the beach, sad songs, and crying in movies, it also means few things appeal to me more than a warm, quiet, comfortable couch near a fireplace, whereby I can sit and chat about everything and anything, with a close friend, while sipping a fruit forward, smooth Syrah. And that is exactly what I like to do at Ca’ Del Grevino. Ca’ Del Grevino is a local’s hangout, restaurant, and wine tasting room, located at 400 E. Clark Ave in Old Town Orcutt. Open 6 days a week, Grevino as my friends and I call it, is a soothing, charming, inviting, and accommodating local treasure, that I can wholeheartedly recommend as a Keys2TheCoast favorite place to wine, dine and explore. Not only is the wine terrific, so is the food. The warm Marcona Almonds are delicious. Maybe best of all, their staff is terrific and aim to please. If you want something, they can almost read your mind. Okay…. maybe that’s simply because I’m a regular.
I’ve written about Clark Avenue in previous blogs and columns and this little stretch of road, in Old Town Orcutt, continues to deliver the goods, when it comes to offering visitors, local and tourists alike, a low key, small-town feel, while featuring a variety of culinary options. From Uliveto, where you can get some of our region’s best Italian dishes, to Far Western Tavern, where the steaks, burgers, and ribs are second to none, to Niya, which features the chef’s custom rolls, laid out in the most spectacular way and a happy hour from 3 pm to 7 pm, it’s getting easier, and more enjoyable all the time, to live it up in Orcutt.
Gravino’s wines are superb. They have a $125 bottle of Pinot Noir that will knock your socks or sandals off. But don’t worry, they also have some other delicious reds, including a Syrah, Grenache and a few other varietals, between $40 and $50 per bottle. You can also get Element Wine at Grevino. The element has a variety of delicious reds, including Pinot’s, Syrah’s, and a Grenache that retails for around $35.
I encourage you to visit Ca’ Del Grevino. Enjoy the wine, the food, the atmosphere…and try lounging in the back room on a soft, leather sofa and enjoy the fire and sipping away. You’ll come back again and again. Cheers!
