Enjoying Catalina Island with a glass of wine while watching the boats from the Bluewater Grill.
If you enjoy good food Catalina Food Tours offers a fantastic three-hour tour of different foodie locations in downtown Avalon. In just a mere three hours we visited 5 different places and we tried so many different types of delicious food. First on our tour was the Bluewater Grill in Avalon. The Bluewater Grill sits at the water’s edge where you are can overlook the beautiful boats sitting peacefully on the water. We tried the best New England Clam Chowder ever tasted. It was creamy and loaded with clams making it the best outside of New England. Next on our tour we visited Steve’s Steakhouse where we enjoyed a surf and turf. Our taste at Steve’s included teriyaki marinated skirt steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms along with lightly toasted coconut shrimp over a Thai chili sauce. The Thai chili sauce was the perfect amount of spice and was a group favorite. Maggie’s Blue Rose Diner was next on our tour. They served a chicken quesadilla that is paired with a coconut margarita. The coconut margarita is delicious and perfect for coconut lovers.
Grilled artichoke as a starter from Bluewater Grill.
After the tour, we decided to come back to have dinner and we were not disappointed. Our starter was grilled artichoke and my main course was a huge lobster tail with a side of squash and zucchini.

Our tour guide Lili Dana took us to two magnificent places for dessert. Lloyd’s of Avalon Confectionery and the Catalina Coffee and Cookie Company. At Lloyd’s, they pull fresh taffy right off the machine. Lloyd’s has been serving delicious taffy and treats since 1934. The Catalina Coffee and Cookie Company has the most delicious treats and they also offer gluten-free baked goods. Our favorite was the dark chocolate pistachio candy. They served us a delicious sweet and spicy tea that was so good we bought more to take home.
