MONTEREY

GRAB LIFE BY THE MOMENTS

Monterey is a perfect vacation spot with fantastic things to do, for people of all ages. Monterey’s Cannery Row is an interesting place to explore and learn about the historical and economic roots of this central California town.

World-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium and Fisherman’s Wharf are visited by millions, yearly. Monterey is a center of exciting activities for everyone. Hiking, biking, diving, kayaking, shopping, and, of course, endless dining choices, make it easy to find just what you are looking for, in this idyllic town surrounding the bay.

This is not your typical hot, summer getaway. Expect coastal fog and cooler temperatures, to make for a pleasantly memorable experience. Warm up with your choice of clam chowder, from the whimsical Fisherman’s Wharf, where scenes from the popular Big Little Lies series were filmed. From there, you can catch a boat ride to watch massive whales make their yearly migration into deep blue waters. Rent a bike and head down to Cannery Row, just a few miles down the bike path.

Stop at Breakwater Cove to watch the divers descend into the depths and maybe rent a kayak or paddleboard if you don’t mind a little cold plunge here and there. Have a brew at Cannery Row Brewing Company and fill up on local seafood, such as calamari or abalone, along Cannery Row. Make sure to spend a whole day exploring the Monterey Bay Aquarium, in all its glory, to truly learn about this remarkable area and its importance to California as its ‘first city.’

Forever immortalized by John Steinbeck, in his novel by the same name, Cannery Row in Monterey has a charm that will transport you back to an era when Monterey Bay was one of the most fruitful fishing ports in California.
