Old Town Brew – Nipomo, CA

By Gaby Mendoza

A new gem for beer drinkers and socialites on the Central Coast has popped up, in the quiet town of Nipomo, on the southern part of San Luis Obispo County. And not just any part of Nipomo, it is located in Olde Towne Nipomo, which is how the Old Town Brew got its name.

Old Town Brew is tucked into a plaza on the main drag of this small rural town, where you can come dabble in a small-scale, but spacious spot, featuring craft beer, life-size games and a creek-side patio. Old Town Brew gives that true hometown feel, where the staff is happy to be in your company and the locals gather to unwind over tasty brews.

We all have a spot in our hometown, where it’s quiet enough to go relax, but also provides a lively vibe that can perk up a frown on any given weekday. Old Town Brew is that place.  It’s a great substitute for some of the other rowdy scenes you might run into on a weekend.

Depending on what day of the week you stop by, Old Town Brew always has something to spruce up an ordinary day, with Taco Tuesdays, or Karaoke on Thursdays. If you happen to visit this spot on a Monday or Wednesday, you can join the Salsa dancing lessons for free!

When you get there, head outside to the patio and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere, with a creek right down the slope from where you’re sitting. The patio is a great spot to hang out in the evening, with soft lights and heaters to keep warm, but if you make it out during the summer, you won’t have to worry about being chilly.

Old Town Brew makes it a point to keep its taps on a rotating schedule, so that customers can get the beer world’s spice of life. What kinds of beer, you ask? Porters, stouts, IPAs, lagers, the classic domestic beers, and more. They also offer wine and limited mixed drinks, for those of you who aren’t much of the beer type.

If you can’t make it to Old Town on Friday or Saturday, make sure to stop by on Sunday. They offer some good ol’ California comfort food. Come see what the residents of Nipomo are excited about in their quaint little town, where they can catch up, drink some quality beer and do it all over again.
